Subject: Suggestions for Improvement of the GST Portal

Respected Sir

We as professionals in the field of GST and taxation, have closely observed the functioning of the GST portal and would like to offer a few suggestions to enhance its usability and efficiency. These improvements aim to address practical issues faced by taxpayers and professionals while ensuring a seamless experience on the portal.

Field/Window for Uploading Documents During Registration:

Currently, there is no specific field or window to upload supporting documents when an assessee applies for registration. Adding such a feature will ensure that all necessary documents are submitted with the application, thereby reducing the chances of queries or rejections.

Preview and Download Option for Applications Before Submission:

A preview button should be provided to enable taxpayers to review their applications before submission. Additionally, the option to download a draft version of the application will help ensure the accuracy of the information submitted.

Saving of Documents on the Portal for Replying to Notices and Filing Appeals:

An option to save documents on the portal for submitting responses to notices such as ASMT-10 (ASMT-11) , DRC-01 (DRC-06) as well as for filing appeals using APL-01, would significantly simplify compliance. The uploading completes after receiving an EVC (Electronic Verification Code) triggered on the applicant's mobile device. If the EVC is not available at that moment, the taxpayer will need to re-upload the documents or submission, as there is currently no option to save the documents. As professionals, we often encounter difficulties due to the unavailability of the EVC. If there were a facility to save the documents, taxpayers could upload them themselves at their convenience.

Password Visibility Toggle at Login:

A toggle eye icon to make the password visible during login should be provided, as it is a standard feature in most online portals. This will help users ensure that they enter the correct password, reducing login errors.

Streamlining Amendment Process for Core Fields:

When an amendment in core fields is filed, the portal currently does not allow any further amendments until the first is approved. This causes delays, especially when approvals take over a month. Allowing multiple amendment requests to be processed simultaneously or reducing the approval time will significantly improve efficiency.

These enhancements will not only improve user satisfaction but also contribute to the overall objective of making the GST system more taxpayer-friendly. We believe these suggestions are in line with the vision of a robust and efficient GST ecosystem.

We kindly request you to consider these recommendations and take the necessary steps for their implementation. Should you require any further clarification or support in this regard, we would be happy to assist.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Yours faithfully,

For Sonepat Tax Bar Association
